Celeste Collar

Celeste is an otherworldly object, from another time and place. She is directly inspired by the Art Nouveau and Edwardian eras, where most everything in fashion was inspired by the natural world. In this instance, ice seen at night under a full moon was the impetus to create her. The beading sparkles much like that night time ice!
Celeste is made from silk velvet, interlined with a heavy twill, and then lined in deep blue silk taffeta. The surface was then worked over with embroidery and beading, in themes taken from the night sky. The Moon motif at the center anchors the whole piece, and allows the swags of beads to extend over the collar. The beads are mostly glass seed beads, but the larger ones are Czech fired glass which makes them sparkle like the stars they are inspired by! 
The collar ties in back with vintage taffeta ribbon in a smoky black color. 
At center front, Celeste is 2 1/2", and at center back, she measures 3 1/4".
